Just over a month ago, Britney Spears announced that she was pregnant with fiancé Sam Asghari, now, the singer has revealed that she has suffered a miscarriage.
Taking to Instagram to make the announcement, Spears wrote that "we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy."
"Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly excited to share the good news," she continued.
The message, which was signed from 'Sam & Britney,' called for support from fans, friends and family, but also a desire to have their privacy respected during this extremely difficult time.
"Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment," the post continued.
Asghari, who has been by Britney's side for several years now, commented that, "We will have a miracle soon ❤️."
Back in April when the couple made their announcement, Britney revealed that she hadn't initially suspected she was pregnant, chalking her changing body up to post-holiday fluctuations in weight. Then, after being prompted to take a pregnancy test by Sam, discovered that she had in fact fallen pregnant.
It was unclear how far along Spears was in the pregnancy, but the star had acknowledged that they publicly announced the news quite early on. In her original announcement post, the singer had made it clear that she would not be willing to participate in any publicity around the pregnancy, and would not allow paparazzi to take any pictures of her.
Per TMZ, the couple decided to take a trip to Cancun with Spears' two sons (Sean and Jayden) to take their minds off the pain.
Spears' ability to fall pregnant has been in jeopardy for years now, with the star revealing that she was forced to keep her IUD in during her conservatorship to prevent her having any more children, despite expressing her desire to expand her family with Sam. After winning her conservatorship battle, falling pregnant was a blessing for the star. Our thoughts are with them both during this extremely difficult time.
