Gigi Hadid has built herself an illustrious and lifelong career in the modelling industry. But now, she's turned her talents toward fashion with a knitwear-focused clothing brand.
On August 4, the mother-of-one took to Instagram to share the news that she has been working on building a clothing brand, called Guest In Residence, where she will serve as the brand's founder and creative director. And now, the brand is officially ready to shop.
Hadid has been hard at work for a while now, sharing behind-the-scenes photos where she was seen sifting through an array of fabric swatches and designs, as well as sporting some of the products herself.
"Our knitwear is constructed to last for years, so you can wear them, love them, and, hopefully, pass them down," the website reads.
As for the meaning behind the name, it's been explained as the way we interact not only with our own bodies, but with the world at large.
"We are guests on this planet and in our bodies. Guests in our clothes. Guests when we travel or step out of our comfort zone. We can even feel like guests to ourselves, navigating life while learning who we are," the press release read. "The one guarantee as a guest is that your trip isn't permanent. Therefore, time is a guest's ultimate luxury. We designed Guest In Residence with time in mind. While our own time may finite, we set out to create future heirlooms, constructing pieces with integrity and intention. We hope our pieces represent well-lived lives for generations."
"What we've all been waiting for," her younger sister Bella commented. "So excited about this," Hailey Bieber said, followed by Queer Eye's Tan France who wrote, "I can't wait for everyone to get to see this line."
Of course, the fashion industry is far from foreign to Hadid. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with Tommy Hilfiger, Reebok, Stuart Weitzman, and most recently Frankies Bikinis. On top of that, she will also be serving as a co-host, alongside France, for the second season of Netflix's honorary fashion competition show, Next In Fashion.
What products will be available in Guest In Residence?
Despite having only just launched, we're being treated to a very full collection with items like jumpers, scarves, robes, bottoms, socks and cardigans. From more muted tones like grey to vibrant greens, pinks and blues, there's a wide range of colour palettes available to suit your personal taste.
As for the cost, it's a little on the pricier end given that it's cashmere, so you can expect to pay anywhere from $160 to $714. There's currently free shipping on all orders to Australia though, if you needed a little incentive to sweeten the deal.
When will Guest In Residence launch?
