We're nervous.

Warning: This article contains major spoilers to Stranger Things season 4 volume 1. Continue at your own risk...
If there was ever a reason to binge watch seven episodes of Stranger Things in a row right this minute, the release of season 4 would do it.
Indeed, long time fans were well and truly devoid of the show's many, many plot twists after a three year hiatus between seasons. Luckily, the fourth instalment did not disappoint. But like true television gurus, Stranger Things' creators Matt and Ross Duffer are still keeping us on tenterhooks by splitting it into two volumes. It's expected that the ending of volume two will "dovetail directly" into season five—the final season of the entire series.
So, when will volume two be released—and moreover, when will season five be released? Below, we answer all of your questions.

When will 'Stranger Things' season 4 volume 2 be released in Australia?

Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 will drop on July 1, 2022, at 5pm AEST.
It's expected to consist of two episodes to follow on from the seven episodes in season 4, volume 1 — and we're definitely nervous.
It's also going to be a marathon streaming event. Episode 8 runs for 1 hour and 25 minutes, while episode 9 is running for a whopping 2 hours and 30 minutes. That's basically as long as The Dark Knight.

What will happen in season 4 volume 2?

As we all witnessed, volume 1 saw plenty of major twists and turns—the Hawkins' crew navigated their way out of the Upside Down, plus, Eleven's battle royale with Vecna left us breathless, but as episode seven came to an end, the fate of each character was uncertain.
In volume 2, we'll hopefully find out whether Eleven is okay after her confrontation with Vecna. Nancy and Steve's fate appears to be up in the air after a confusing, hair raising blip in the Upside Down, meanwhile Hopper and Joyce have reunited—but will they return to Hawkins?
On June 22, Netflix finally shared a complete trailer for the second volume with fans getting a sneak peek into the complete showdown about to take place. By the looks of the two-minute trailer, Elle is fighting Vecna and turning against her 'papa' to help her friends, despite both telling her that Hawkins has no hope.
Steve, Nancy, Eddie and Robin seem to be getting deeper into the upside down, and Max seems to be facing Vecna once again—with her cassette tape of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill" in tow—and at one point, running into the Creel house with Lucas and Erica. Basically, every character looks like they're in danger, and we're extremely nervous for them all.
Suffice to say we're shaking, quaking, and everything in between.

On June 14, the streaming platform then dropped another set of clues via a series of stills from volume II. In them, the Hawkins group look to be devising a plan to take down Vecna, while the California group are attempting to track down Eleven.
And spoiler alert—one image shows Nancy with the Hawkins crew, which suggests she must have escaped Venca in the Upside Down.

When will 'Stranger Things' season 5 be released?

As it stands, Netflix is yet to announce a fifth season of Stranger Things, but the Duffer brothers have assured fans that the final instalment has been mapped out.
"During the six-month pandemic hiatus, we outlined Season 5 and pitched it to Netflix," they told Variety in May.
"Everyone there had also been present when we first pitched the show in 2015. While we were strangers then, we were now friends, and there were a lot of tears when it was over."
They also added that the gap between season 4 and 5 shouldn't be as long as the hefty hiatus between season 3 and 4.
"Don't hold us to it, but the gap should be quite a bit shorter this time due to the fact that we already have an initial outline, and we can't imagine there will be another six-month forced hiatus," they added.
We'll update this article as more information about the final season comes to light—stay tuned.
