Everything We Know (So Far) About A Possible Second Season Of Netflix's 'Keep Breathing'

We demand answers.

Warning: This article contains major spoilers about Netflix's series, Keep Breathing.
Watching Keep Breathing from start to finish should come with a caveat: the series will entice you, it'll grip you from its very first scene in the very best way—but you won't be satisfied come the finale episode.
Naturally, the art of television is to do exactly that in order to keep us hooked for a second season, but Netflix might be playing us on this one because Keep Breathing was marketed as a "limited series"—AKA, it's 6-episode arc featuring a plane crash, the surviving protagonist (played by Melissa Barrera) attempting to stay alive, a bunch of wild natural elements being thrown at her and an ominous ending was a one and done thing. Kaput. That's it.
Obviously, we're not willing to believe this given the ending simply didn't wrap things up for us, in fact, it was completely ambiguous. Add that to the fact the show was extremely popular (number one in Australia for a week straight is nothing to sneeze at). So does this mean we'll get a second season after all? Keep scrolling for everything we know.

Will there be a season 2?

At this stage, Keep Breathing has not been renewed for a second season by Netflix. But bear in mind the streaming platform has been known to revive shows from the dead—fans of Manifest, another show with a plane crash as its main premise, will know.
So while the streaming giant had initially marketed the show as a limited series, there's a chance they'll consider its immense popularity and decide to renew it for a second season.
In addition, episode six's cliffhanger no doubt leaves room for a second season—did the writers do that on purpose? We'd like to think they were releasing this as a one-and-done season to be safe, but the option of season two was always on the table. Stay tuned...

What did the ending of 'Keep Breathing' actually mean and did Liv survive?

The last moments of the season reveal Liv finally managing to free herself from the cave, though she's quickly faced with her next challenge when she falls and breaks her leg. She also realises she's left her crucial supplies behind.
She is almost coming to accept that after everything—surviving a plane crash, battling the elements of a forest and her own inner demons—she will probably die.
Liv is then swept into a river where she hallucinates with memories from her past, as well as potential images of her future. She falls unconscious before two men spot her and pull her from the water. She's clearly in a bad way, and could almost certainly be dead, but the next scene shows Liv waking up gasping for air, followed by what appears to be flash-forwards of her giving birth to a baby with her boyfriend Danny.
Given the amount of hallucinations Liv has experienced throughout the season, that final moment could have been interpreted as exactly that—a vision that's not real. But luckily, the show's producers have confirmed that Liv definitely survived, though there is an element left to the viewer's interpretation.
"The ending is literal in that she survives. We see her wake up again and take that breath. The ambiguous part, the part up for interpretation, is whether the images of her and Danny going to the hospital are flash forwards or her imagined future when she believes she's dying. Both are valid."
We have a huge love/hate relationship with ambiguous endings, so the ending of Keep Breathing obviously gave us mixed feelings. But that said, the show's popularity could secure it a second season, or at least a spin-off.

When would season 2 be released?

Hypothetically speaking, if Netflix were to renew the show for a second season we would be looking at a 12 to 18-month time frame between filming and post-production.
So, if season two does go ahead it would likely come out in late 2023 or early 2024. Fingers crossed...
