If you're over the age of 30, you'll no doubt be familiar with the 90s television phenomenon Heartbreak High. And if you don't... well, you'll know it soon enough.
For the show's young fans in the 90s, Heartbreak High provided a window into the real complexities and issues often encountered by teens represented onscreen. Its plot fearlessly delved into drug use, sex, teenage pregnancy and crime.
These days, the likes of Euphoria, and before that, Skins, set a new precedent in raw, confronting teen storytelling. And now, Heartbreak High is back to continue what it started.
Netflix has remade the iconic series with a young, incredibly talented all-new cast. Set for release in September 2022, the diverse ensemble will not only bring a whole new story to tell, but they'll also be representative of real Australia with queer, non-binary and Indigenous characters bringing some much needed representation of marginalised communities to mainstream television.
Below, meet the cast and their characters—the show hasn't even dropped and we're already hooked.
