The 2021 reboot of Gossip Girl couldn't have gone any better, frankly. Before the entire first season had been released, a second season was signed and sealed by production company HBO Max.
The reboot, which saw the next generation of affluent Upper East Side high schoolers hang out on the Met Steps and partner swap like there's no tomorrow was largely well received by critics.
The narrative managed to capture older Gossip Girl purists with similar themes to its iconic six-season predecessor, while also capturing the very essence of what it is to be a young person in 2021, thus garnering a whole new Gen Z audience.
With the second season set to arrive very soon, ELLE Australia exclusively caught up with Evan Mock to discuss exactly what the highly-anticipated second season holds.
"I feel like season one was a sneak peek of the trailer of what season two can be," Mock explained.
"Everything turns up so much more in season two. I think they really needed the whole entire season to really get into the groove of our story and how we grow or how we bond or we break apart.
"That's kind of the beauty of the show, you never really know what's going to happen."
Now, HBO has dropped a trailer and first look images for the upcoming second season and sparks are about to fly because this "messy" character from the original is set to turn the heat up this season.
While we won't be able to say for certain exactly what's going to go down between our favourite Constance Billard St. Jude's students, we've rounded up below everything we know about the second instalment of the Gossip Girl reboot.
What will happen in season 2 of the 'Gossip Girl' reboot?
With the first season of Gossip Girl ending on quite the cliff-hanger, we have no doubts that the second season will no doubt address that cryptic conversation between Julian and Gossip Girl.
The season finale also saw Aki, Audrey and Max give their steamy ménage à trois a second chance, and with the double the amount of love and lust invovled, we're sure there will be a few hurdles the throuple will have to overcome in season 2.
As for the fate of Julian's dad, the coup Monet is organising and what will happen between Obie and Zoya? Well, as Gossip Girl herself would say, that's a secret she'll never tell.
However, it seems that Gossip Girl has started spilling the tea on what you can expect in the upcoming season. Mainly, the iconic return of one of the original franchises most legendary characters.
In the new teaser, Georgina Sparks, the ultimate Upper East Side villain, can be spotted in the audience of an auditorium. The accompanying text reads: "It only takes one spark to start a fire".
As Gossip Girl herself said "I have a feeling that this city is about to burn". Watch the piping hot teaser for yourself in the video player above.
Who will be cast in season 2 of the 'Gossip Girl' reboot?
Expect the same familiar faces of season one to steal our screens once again for the second season. Helming the pack are Jordan Alexander and Whitney Peak who play Julien and Zoya, respectively.
Other young talent includes Eli Brown, Thomas Doherty, Emily Alyn Lind, Evan Mock, Savannah Lee Smith and Zion Moreno.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are executive producers alongside Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo.
