If you've watched even one second of Queer Eye then you're familiar with the feeling of pure bliss that comes with watching the wholesome makeover series.
And to further that, if you've scrolled through any of the five leads Instagram pages—that is, Karamo, Bobby, Jonathan, Antoni or Tan—you've likely become very familiar with their loved ones. With the latter having only recently added a new member to their family tree.
Queer Eye's Tan France and his husband Rob announced that they were expecting their first baby via surrogate, back in April 2021.
The TV show host and stylist shared the happy news on Instagram with a cheeky post, showing him shirtless with sonogram superimposed on his stomach.
"So happy to finally share that WE'RE HAVING A BABY!! No, I'm not pregnant, despite this VERY realistic pic," Tan wrote.
"With the greatest gift/help of the most wonderful surrogate, Rob and I are lucky enough to be on our way to being parents, this Summer. Something we've wanted for SOooo many years. Our hearts are so full right now. I cannot wait to hold this baby, and to show him so much love."
Under the post, Rob, an illustrator posted a slew of happy emojis: "😭❤️😭❤️😭".
All of Tan's fellow Queer Eye cast members shared in the couple's joy, leaving congratulatory comments under the post.
"😍😍😍😍😍 / 😭😭😭😭 so happy for you!!! I'm so proud of you and Rob you are two of the sweetest most genuine people in the world & this is the most exciting news ever 💗💗💗💗💗," Jonathan Van Ness wrote.
"Now I know what it's like to cry tears of joy and be turned on simultaneously thank you and congrats boys!!!!" Antoni added.
"Yay!!!!!!! Uncle Momo is going to spoil this baby!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️," Karamo said.
"Hahahaha. The joy of this post outshines the creepiness of this pic 😂❤️," said Bobby.
And Rob also shared his own announcement post, commemorating the special moment with a beautiful illustration of a growing baby.
"We have a beautiful little angel on the way and I didn't think it was humanly possible to feel like this. ❤️😭❤️😭," he wrote in the caption.
Mere months later, Tan and Rob welcomed their first baby, a son named Ismail France, via surrogate on July 10 2021. He announced the news on Instagram alongside a photo of the family of three, explaining that his baby boy arrived seven weeks early and spent three weeks in the newborn intensive care unit (NICU).
"Give our son a warm welcome," he wrote in the caption. "Ismail France, born July 10th. He came 7 weeks early, so he's been in the NICU for the past 3 weeks. But, today, we finally got to bring him home. We love him so, so much. Like, fully obsessed."
"Our Surrogate is doing so great, post labor," he adds, "and we couldn't be more grateful for the greatest gift in our lives."
He paired the captions with an oh-so-sweet photo of the new family, with his son's face kept private.
In September 2019, Tan revealed that he "always wanted to be a father" in conversation with NPR's Terry Gross.
"I've wanted children since I was 19, 20. If I'd had a stable relationship at that time, I would have desperately tried to have children," he explained at the time, adding that "surrogacy for gay men costs a heck of a lot," he said.
""I was going to be a stay-at-home dad, which is something I've wanted for many, many, many years. And so that was the plan. And I actually—crazily, I still want six. I don't know if that's going to happen, but yeah, I still want six children."
Tan also gushed about his husband of 12 years to People in a February 2020 interview.
"Every day, he just tells me how much he loves me and everything he loves about me, and I do the same for him," he said.
"And it's not something we said 'Oh we should do this for each other.' We just started doing it."
Congratulations to Tan and Rob!
