After 13 gruelling years spent in a conservatorship, Britney Spears is finally enjoying her freedom and is now expecting her first child with Sam Asghari. The singer, who is already mum to two boys, Sean (16) and Jayden (15), took to Instagram to share the exciting news and has already been met with congratulations from all over the world.
In the post, she reveals how she came to find out about the pregnancy, after originally believing she'd gained some weight after returning home from Maui. Her now-fiancé, Sam suspected the same thing until Britney decided to take a pregnancy test which confirmed the exciting news that the pair are in fact expecting.
"Uhhhhh well … I am having a baby," Spears wrote.

In the same post, Britney spoke candidly of her previous experiences while pregnant, admitting that she had suffered from perinatal depression.
"I have to say it is absolutely horrible 😔 … women didn't talk about it back then … some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her … but now women talk about it everyday … thank Jesus we don't have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret."
Perinatal depression is another term for postpartum depression, meaning that it occurs after childbirth. Approximately one in ten women will experience it to varying degrees of severity, and as Britney mentioned, the condition is much more widely talked about now than it was several decades ago.
Spears has been vocal for several months about her desire to expand her family, but was unable to do so under the strict rules of her conservatorship.
During the singer's court hearing, she spoke about her inability to remove the IUD which had been inside her for several years and was frequently denied removal each time she had requested the procedure.
"I would like to progressively move forward, and I want to have the real deal," she told the court. "I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I have an [IUD] inside of myself so I don't get pregnant. They don't want me to have children — any more children."
Following her official release from the conservatorship in November 2021, it seems the couple wasted no time in starting the next chapter of their lives and finally starting a family. The pair announced their engagement just a few months prior in September and have been dating since 2016. Spears' due date is currently unknown.
