Lorde Has Officially Turned Into Solar Power Itself With A New Blonde ‘Do

There's no denying that Lorde has undergone a complete transformation as a result of her third studio album, Solar Power. With a history of writing melancholic melodies, her latest project saw her channel the sun's energy, dancing on beaches dressed in a series of canary yellow ensembles.
Now, she's matching her entire look to summer's rays, swapping out her chocolate brown hair for a sun-kissed blonde 'do.
Debuting her new tresses during her performance at Glastonbury Festival on June 27, Lorde took to the stage to perform hits from her latest album—don't worry, no shushing took place—but it wasn't before fans noticed the colour change.
Wearing her hair in loose waves falling by her shoulders, she kept her entire look fun by pairing her freshly coloured strands with a lilac leotard and crimson tights, as well as a silky red ribbon tied around her arm.
Sure, she certainly looks different, but fret not because she's still the same Lorde that we've come to know and love. While performing her hit songs, the New Zealand musician made sure to call out the Supreme Court of the United States—just like Olivia Rodrigo did with her targeted song choice—for their recent decision to overturn Roe v Wade to criminalise women's rights to reproductive health.
"Wanna hear a secret girls? Your bodies were destined to be controlled and objectified since before you were born. That horror is your birthright," she told the crowd, as per The Daily Mail.
"But here's another secret. You possess strength. That wisdom is also your birthright. I ask you today to make exercising that wisdom your life's work because everything depends on it."
"F--k the Supreme Court," she concluded, with the crowd bursting into applause and cheer.
But this isn't the first time that she's spoken publicly about women's rights. In September 2021, she sat down with Variety to credit women in the music industry.
"Women need to be valued for not just the emotional nuance they bring to songwriting, but also technical skills," she told publication. "Whether it's someone like Britney [Spears], who we've all seen go through this terrible thing, or Fiona Apple, there's always someone who came before you taking it on the chin."
Despite her speech being spur of the moment, her hair transformation was far from. In 2021, Lorde donned a blonde wig in her music video for "Mood Ring" which gave us a taste of the sun-kissed shade that she had intentions of sporting in the future.
Wig or no wig, her blonde 'do has us craving a trip to our hair stylist come Summer.
